A big thank you to everyone who made it out to Schuler Book’s and Music last night for the event. Regrettably, there were so few of you that it would be easy to just name you all, but I do really appreciate your traveling to see me blather for a few minutes after driving through a blizzard. The one good thing to take away from it is that I’ll be doing another event in a few months when The Fort releases. If we get a blizzard in June I’ll eat my hat.

Rough Men is releasing tomorrow!

Pub date for Rough Men is looming over my head, and I cannot wait to hear what you guys think of my little tale of revenge.

Will Daniels has fought hard to keep his demons at bay; he’s exchanged a shady past for the love of a woman he doesn’t deserve and the dream of becoming an author, all while trying to save his wayward son, Alex, from the same destructive impulses that nearly doomed him.

But the demons come cackling back in the form of a detective on Will’s doorstep, bearing the news that Alex has been killed in a botched bank robbery. Worse, Alex wasn’t an innocent bystander but part of the gang that raided the vault and left behind numerous bodies.

Simmering with rage over his loss, Will tries to let the police handle the matter. But as Alex’s killers remain at large, Will decides that it’s up to him—and a few old friends—to enact revenge in a most brutal manner.

Now he’s calling on dangerous connections that have been buried for years—and should’ve stayed that way. But Will vows to do whatever it takes to see Alex’s killers repay their sins in blood, even if it means his own damnation.

That took longer than I expected.

I have no good excuse, but the reason my last post was so darned cliffhangery was that I have officially begun my career as a full time writer. Yes, this is a little weird, I’ve been piercing my entire adult life, but it felt good to let that go. Body piercing was a wonderful ride, and I made some of my best friends working in the tattoo shop, but there comes a time when enough is enough. Thankfully, my wonderful publisher in Amazon and my wonderful readers have made this possible. I’m taking December off of writing, except for occasionally posting on here, which we both know I’m bad at, and then I’ll begin new long fiction on New Years Day. Lot’s of stuff coming up in 2013, and I can’t wait to share it all with you guys.

Daniels’s wayward son, Alex, while participating in the robbery of a Lake Michigan Credit Union, guns down a loan officer he suspects of reaching for his own weapon. But after the gang escapes unscathed, one of Alex’s fellow thieves blows Alex away. The news reaches Daniels three days later, with the tragedy of the death only compounded by the circumstances. In the course of the bank heist, four innocents were killed, including the parents of a little girl, who herself was shot in the head and lies at death’s door. Naturally, Daniels is plagued by guilt over failing his child, and he’s unconvinced that the police will exert much effort to find Alex’s killer. Davis (Nickel Plated) makes the path Daniels follows a grimly plausible one, and tosses in a couple of curves to spice up the plot. (Jan.)
